Psychedelics are increasingly recognised as powerful modulators of neuroplasticity, influencing how the brain adapts, reorganises, and learns. But what does neuroplasticity actually mean in practice, and how might these brain-level changes show up in areas like emotional processing, resilience, and longer-term therapeutic change?
In this session, neuroscience graduate student and researcher Sogol Fereydouni will offer a clear and accessible introduction to how psychedelic compounds interact with neuroplastic processes in the brain. Drawing on current research, she will explore how these substances influence learning, affect regulation, and behavioural flexibility, and why this may open up meaningful windows for psychological change. The session will blend a short presentation with facilitated discussion, creating space for questions, reflection, and shared sense-making around what these findings might mean for clinical and integrative contexts.
About Peer Perspectives
This session launches Peer Perspectives, a new bi-monthly, member-led series within the OPEN Professional Community. Each session highlights the depth, diversity, and creativity of work emerging from within our own network. Professional members are invited to host a 60-minute gathering to share research, clinical insights, embodied practices, or cultural perspectives, followed by open discussion and Q&A. These sessions are designed to support peer-to-peer learning in a warm, collegial space and to celebrate the knowledge already present within our community.
Are you a Professional Member with an idea you’d like to share? We warmly invite you to submit an idea and take part in shaping future Peer Perspectives sessions.
