Building on our previous discussion, this follow-up event delves deeper into the nuanced intersections of psychedelics, autism, and the broader neurodiversity paradigm. As the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy continues to evolve, so too does the importance of co-creating approaches that are inclusive, affirming, and responsive to the lived experiences of neurodivergent individuals.

Join us for an open and exploratory conversation with Dr. Nick Walker and Daan Keiman as we revisit key insights from pioneering work and examine new questions emerging in the field.

  • How can psychedelic therapies be designed not only to accommodate, but to celebrate neurodivergent ways of being?

  • What does truly inclusive research and clinical practice look like?

  • How might psychedelics help us reimagine healing – not just for individuals, but for communities shaped by systemic marginalization?

This dialogue invites practitioners, researchers, and neurodivergent community members to engage in a collaborative inquiry. Together, we’ll explore what it means to move from promising studies to practical, transformative frameworks for care.

This event continues the conversation started in May. If you missed the first session, you can watch it here:

ABOUT THE SPEAKERs

Dr. Nick Walker is a Professor of Psychology at California Institute of Integral Studies, and a principal architect and founding faculty member of the school’s new undergraduate Psychedelic Studies program. Author of the influential essay collection Neuroqueer Heresies, Dr. Walker has been a leading thinker on neurodiversity for more than two decades and has played a major role in establishing the foundations of the emerging neurodiversity paradigm.
Daan Keiman (they/he) is a (neuro)queer, educator, and psychedelic geek with a love for the art of caring. As Educational Lead at the OPEN Foundation they designed and currently steward ADEPT (Advanced Education in Psychedelic Therapy), a comprehensive two year training program for psychedelic therapists. Daan holds an academic background in sociology, anthropology, and spiritual care (theology and religious studies), and brings over 15 years of professional experience supporting people in preparing for, navigating, and integrating non-ordinary states of consciousness. They currently work as a Buddhist and psychedelic chaplain in private practice, and are especially interested in the intersection of somatic and contemplative practices, psychedelic care and therapy, ecopsychology, and post capitalistic systems change.
