In this talk, you will learn what Internal Family Systems (IFS) is, why it is a natural fit for the full arc of psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT), how it supports optimal safety, and how it can strengthen your work as a guide. Together, we will explore the different parts we all carry, the Self, common fears that parts may hold around psychedelic journeys, and how IFS can enrich the preparation, journey, and integration phases. By the end of the session, participants will be able to identify common parts and the core qualities of the Self, and describe key elements that make IFS a powerful model for psychedelic-assisted therapy.
What you will learn:
- The core principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and how they can be applied to psychedelic-assisted therapy
- How identifying and working with parts can enhance safety, trust, and depth across preparation, journey, and integration
- Common protective parts that may arise during psychedelic experiences and why engaging them with curiosity and care is essential
- The role of the Self in IFS and how it can support healing within non-ordinary states of consciousness
- Why IFS is increasingly recognised as a complementary model in the field of psychedelic therapy
