Featuring two panel discussions:

Panel #1: How does the hype around psychedelics impact patients and therapists?

Panel #2: Patient care and safety, integration and post-access care

Discussing two important issues:

What does the future of medicalised psychedelics look like?

Psychedelics have never been hotter. Studies are published in high-ranking journals like Nature and Science, venture capital funds are throwing millions at new psychedelic start-ups that are popping up like mushrooms after an autumn rain, and scores of savvy businessmen can advise you which psychedelic stock will be the next big growth opportunity. This means many have a vested interest in portraying psychedelics as magic bullets that can solve the mental health crisis. But are they really the miracle cures they are made out to be, and can everyone expect to be better after being treated with a psychedelic? In this webinar, we will discuss how this hype is changing research, therapy, and society. How to remain level-headed in a quickly transforming field, and stay focused on investigating and developing safe and accessible treatments for those in need, without compromising safety and access. Patients for whom conventional treatments have failed can be desperate to feel better, and media coverage has put psychedelics in an all-but positive light. Furthermore, alternate states of consciousness can be profound, shocking and potentially destabilising experiences. What are the challenges and risks for patients? How do we make sure therapists are equipped to handle these safely, and how do we prevent and deal with therapist transgressions?

Psychedelic medicines and therapies have potentials, but there are also pitfalls.

The OPEN Foundation, in collaboration with its partners, are creating a dedicated time and space for cultivating impactful dialogues around the future of psychedelic medicalisation, its potentials and pitfalls. Join this free online event to be a part of critical discourse featuring world’s leading experts on psychedelic science and therapy. To discuss these crucial topics together is why we are organising this free online event on June 20th.
