EVENT ORGANISER BASED IN AMSTERDAM

Event Organiser (Volunteer & Remote)

Founded in 2007, the OPEN Foundation is the leading nonprofit organisation in the Netherlands and Europe dedicated to advancing psychedelic science and therapies. OPEN is looking for an Amsterdam based event organiser who has experience with running small size events and meetups. Are you great at doing logistics? Are you also experienced in producing local events? Are you fluent in English and Dutch? Do you have an interest in psychedelic science and therapies and/or mental healthcare? If yes, we’d LOVE to hear from you!

What will you be doing?

We are seeking a dynamic and highly organised Event Organiser to join our team in Amsterdam. As an Event Organiser, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing local meetups within the city. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating engaging and memorable experiences for attendees.

Responsibilities:

  • Event Planning: Collaborate with the team to develop event concepts, themes, and objectives for local meetups. Identify suitable venues, negotiate contracts, and manage all logistical aspects of the events.

  • Programme Development: Work with our programming team to curate a diverse range of engaging content and activities that cater to the interests and needs of the target audience. Coordinate with speakers, presenters, and vendors to ensure smooth event execution.

  • Marketing and Promotion: Work with our marketing and communications team to execute effective marketing strategies to attract a wide range of participants. Utilise various local channels to promote the meetups and drive attendance.

  • Attendee Engagement: Create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere at each meetup, ensuring that participants have a positive experience. Foster connections and networking opportunities among attendees to encourage community building.

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring that expenses are within allocated resources. Track expenses, negotiate vendor contracts, and seek cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

  • On-site Coordination: Oversee all aspects of event execution, including setup, registration, audiovisual requirements (when needed), and participant support. Ensure that all activities run smoothly and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the meetups.

  • Post-event Evaluation: Collect feedback from attendees and stakeholders to assess the success of each meetup. Analyze data, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations for future events.

Who are we looking for?

You’ve been doing a great job in event production, but perhaps haven’t found a strong sense of meaning as a result of your work. And now you’re looking to leverage your ninja level skills for producing events that impact the world positively. You’re tech-savvy and LOVE to use events as a tool to enhance people’s lives. You bring years of solid experience and expertise into the projects you work on. You’re fast at what you do and deploy a systemic approach that minimises future work because you feel a sense of accountability and responsibility for your work. You are data driven, follow the latest and proven trends, have an eye for great aesthetics, and pay close attention to details. If you already work as a professional freelancer, or have time in addition to another job and enjoy having a dynamic role at a nonprofit organisation with a mission you deeply care about, please apply.

Required Qualifications:

  • Dutch speaking and based in Amsterdam
  • Previous experience in event planning and organisation, preferably in a similar role
